01/29/2007 — Chapin Information
Services (CIS) will begin a new activity in 2007 whose mission is to establish the most comprehensive system of website security scoring.
CIS will publish a free database of security scores indicating at-a-glance the relative safety of many websites.
CIS is already building its reputation in this field by continually being first in the world to report website security hazards.
Particularly, websites that use passwords, credit card numbers, and other sensitive information will be evaluated on the results of over 75 intensive security tests and analysis methods carried out both publicly and on-site.
|
For end users, CIS will offer notices at info-svc.com regarding potentially safe or hazardous websites.
For website owners, CIS will offer a confidential inside-out analysis of the website’s entire operation, and the opportunity to publish a full score.
Tentatively named the RAC Rating, each full score will be between 0 and 10.
Websites that are new to CIS will receive a preliminary score of up to 4 points.
Website scores and additional information will be available at info-svc.com/security.
